Topic: New Trends in Performance Evaluating

Often times, performance evaluations are used for raises, promotions and bonuses.  Employers fill out a matrix of questions judging employees based on a number scale. But does that “1-5” scale provide anything more than an awkward, uncomfortable atmosphere?  And what about the danger of judging employees on a group of subjective qualities that will mean different things to each rater and each employee?  

Evaluations should be used as a tool—for growth, development and most importantly, communication.  A good review system should aid people in increasing their own performance while clarifying their roles and responsibilities.  Join us as Joyce Grenis, Senior Vice President of Human Resource Consulting Services at Sikich LLP, shares some alternative routes that, if utilized, are sure to help your staff work together with common goals and fewer obstacles.

Joyce Grenis started her career in Human Resources with Jewel Companies, Inc. in 1973, serving in progressively more strategic positions in several Jewel divisions including Osco Drug, Turn*Style, Republic Lumber and MFC.  During her career, Joyce was also Director of Human Resources for the American Dental Association and Vice President of Human Resources for Wieboldt’s Stores, Inc.

Prior to joining HRA/Flex Execs Management Solutions, Joyce held the position of Vice President of Human Relations for Handy Andy Home Improvement Centers, Inc. where she led the HR activities, serving 7500 employees in 75 locations in 7 states.
