Join your colleagues on Monday, March 22, 2010 for ISAE’s Monthly Luncheon & Spring Seminar featuring Clint Sidle, Director of the Park Leadership Fellows Program and the Leadership Skills Program in the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University.

The seminar will begin at 8:30 a.m. and convene at 4:30 p.m. breaking from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. for the Monthly Luncheon.

Lunch Description: "The Purpose Driven Leader"

As a student of leadership for many years, one of my keenest interests and pursuits has been to tap into people’s ambitions in ways that stir them not only to succeed--but also to make a positive contribution to the world. How can we inspire leaders "to do well while doing good" in ways that stick? My own experience and current research show that the most successful leaders, and all the truly great ones, balance their personal ambition with a dedication to a greater cause. Those who serve something other than themselves tend to succeed, while those who are overly self-interested tend to derail. Some may get by in being overly self-interested in the short run, but not over the long haul. Don’t get me wrong, we always act in our own self interest, but it’s in our self-interest to act in the interest of others too. In this talk I will draw out what it means to be a purpose driven leader.

Seminar Description: "Conflict Resolution"

We have all experienced the stress that comes from having unresolved conflicts with our colleagues. Conflicts that are ignored or resolved badly don't go away--they cause people to feel resentful and to avoid each other. The effects on the company are a loss of productivity, absenteeism and turnover.  This workshop goes directly to the heart of this problem. In it professions learn and practice a well proven model for resolving conflicts.

What Participants Will Learn:

  1. Conflict is inevitable, unavoidable--even healthy.  The existence of conflict is not the problem, but rather how it is resolved.
  2. How to manage your own emotions in resolving conflict
  3. How to listen to others' points of view for better understanding and improved work relations
  4. How to express needs and problems openly and honestly without blame, criticism or finger-pointing
  5. A proven approach for resolving conflicts so that needs (not competing solutions) get clearly identified and new, more creative solutions are found
  6. How to apply these principles in managing your boss, supervising direct reports and influencing your peers

Both events will be held at the Hilton Hotel (700 E Adams St – Springfield).  All are welcome and encouraged to attend.  Click the Register for Event Now" button above to access the registration form.
